A man in Jaipur, Anshul Dadhich, was arrested on Saturday after a video of him assaulting a Muslim vegetable vendor, Shahroz, went viral. The incident took place in the Brahmpuri area, where Anshul was seen abusing Shahroz, questioning his nationality, and calling him a Bangladeshi. Shahroz, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was forced to prove his identity as an Indian. Police arrested Anshul from his home after he posted the video online. Himmat Singh, who recorded the video, was also detained. Following his arrest, Anshul claimed he acted out of "sleep deprivation." Authorities revealed that Anshul’s social media profile contained extremist content and noted a previous incident where he climbed a water tank, demanding India be declared a Hindu Rashtra. A case had been filed against him last year for that protest.
