On the night of July 16, an Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Dornier aircraft successfully located the fishing boat IFB Aashni (IND-TN-12-MM-6673) with 11 crew members, 50 nautical miles west of Kerala's Ponani, the ICG said. The vessel was in distress due to severe flooding and engine failure. Despite adverse weather conditions, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) of the Indian Coast Guard promptly initiated a search and rescue operation. ICG Ship Saksham and a Dornier aircraft are currently assisting and towing the IFB Aashni to safety.
