The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on May 13 predicted that Northwest India will experience heatwaves starting Thursday, May 16. Regions including West Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and South Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh are expected to be affected by this prediction. The Regional Met Centre (RWFC) Delhi, has predicted heatwave at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan and East Rajasthan on May 16 and 17. Hot and humid weather is also likely to prevail over Saurashtra and Kutch during the next 5 days. The IMD also said that the Southwest Monsoon is very likely to advance into South Andaman Sea, some parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands around May19.
