‘Tonique,’ the luxury liquor mart on Jubilee Hills Road No. 36, Hyderabad, was shut down by the Excise Department on Sunday following the expiration of its licence. Established in 2017 by Anith Reddy, the mart’s elite liquor store license expired on August 31 and was not renewed by the authorities. An official from the department stated that the license, initially alleged to have been extended beyond the standard period, had expired, leading to the store's closure. The mart was also previously raided by the Commercial Taxes and Excise Departments for rule violations. The remaining stock, valued at around INR 1.5 crore, will be redistributed to other liquor outlets per regulations.
