A Hyderabad woman, Nishitha Gudipudi, has accused a Swiggy Genie delivery agent of stealing her laptop and demanding a ransom of INR 15,000 for its return. Gudipudi, a civil engineer, shared the incident on LinkedIn, explaining that her husband booked the delivery service to transport a laptop between offices in Madhapur. The delivery agent reportedly picked up the backpack containing the laptop but switched off his phone mid-way. After contacting Swiggy customer care, the couple struggled to identify the agent, raising concerns about unauthorised individuals using registered accounts. They eventually reached the agent through WhatsApp, who claimed a friend was using his login, only to receive a ransom demand shortly after. Swiggy has since terminated the agent’s account and is cooperating with authorities. Swiggy Ordered to Pay Rs 1,000 to Customer for Failing to Refund Rs 104, Consumer Court Cites Mental Harassment.
