Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday lauded the Women's Cricket Team for winning the Gold Medal at the Asian Games 2023. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Thakur said, "Congratulations to our Women's Cricket Team on their astounding debut at the #AsianGames and bring home 🇮🇳's 1st-ever GOLD in Cricket!!" Thakur also said it was a valiant effort and terrific fielding from the #WomenInBlue against Sri Lanka. "This historic win is a testament to their grit, indomitable spirit, and resilience, a moment which will forever be etched in 🇮🇳's Asian Games history," Thakur said. It must be noted that this was the first time that the Indian women's cricket team competed at the Asian Games.
