Amid the blistering heatwave in Gujarat, the team at Doordarshan went out on a unique experiment. They wanted to find out the varying temperatures across different locations under the scorching sun amid soaring temperatures and the results are nothing short of astonishing. Imagine driving down an asphalt road, feeling as though the road beneath your feet is emitting waves of fire. When the Doordarshan team placed a thermometer on an asphalt road, the temperature soared to a staggering 71 degrees Celsius! Yes, you heard it right - 71 degrees Celsius! In such intense heat, even cooking oil would start to sizzle. Now, consider this: What difference would it make if the nearby road was made of reinforced concrete (RCC)? When the team measured the temperature there, the thermometer touched 64.6 degrees Celsius. Though not as hot as an asphalt road, but it was merely a semblance of comfort. Bikaner: BSF Soldier Roasts Papad on Sand Amid Soaring Temperatures, Video Surfaces.
