The Punjab and Haryana High Court recently asked both the state to ensure that educational institutions and offices don't insist on the father's name of the rape victim's child. As per a report in Live Law, the court made the direction on a suggestion put forth by Amicus Curiae Tanu Bedi Bedi gave the suggestion in a matter regarding the welfare and rehabilitation of rape victims and children born from such offence. The case was regarding a victim of a sexual offence who had sought compensation for violating her modesty and fundamental right to live with dignity.
