The Gujarat High Court recently told a father not to pressurise his minor daughter to terminate her pregnancy while allowing her abortion plea. The High Court, while hearing the abortion plea, allowed a 17-year-old girl to terminate her pregnancy of around 17 weeks. However, while allowing the medical termination of pregnancy, the bench of Justice Samir J Dave also asked the girl's father not to pressurise his daughter to terminate her pregnancy. The High Court bench made the observation while taking note of the medical report of the minor girl and her statements recorded before the police and the magistrate. "You are pressurising your daughter? I have gone through her statement recorded under Section 164 CrPC. The mother of the victim knew about the pregnancy, and the parents of the boy/accused were also aware of the pregnancy of the girl," the bench stated. HC on Divorce Dispute: Financial Instability of Husband Can Amount to Mental Cruelty to Wife, Says Delhi High Court.
