The Rajasthan High Court recently said that working women are entitled to 180 days of maternity leave as laid down in the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017, regardless of the establishment they work in. In view of this, the high court bench of Justice Anup Kumar Dhand also directed the central government and the Rajasthan government to issue the necessary orders and guidelines to all unrecognized and private sectors. The court has asked the governments to issue orders so that the private sector can amend their policies to ensure 180 days of maternity leave is granted to their female employees.
