According to the Allahabad High Court, live relationships are mostly "time pass" and are marked by a lack of "stability and sincerity". A Bench of Justices Rahul Chaturvedi and Mohd Azhar Husain Idrisi made the observation while dismissing a request filed by an inter-faith live-in couple seeking police protection. The Court was hearing a plea filed jointly by the couple- a Hindu woman and a Muslim man - seeking the quashing of the latter's first information report (FIR) claiming kidnapping under Section 366 of the Indian Penal Code. The woman's aunt reportedly filed the complaint. As they chose to continue their live-in relationship, the couple also requested police protection. HC on Live-In Relationship: Live-In Relationships Cannot Be at Cost of Country's Social Fabric, Says Allahabad High Court; Denies Protection to Married Woman and Her Lover.
