Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, the Maharashtra Revenue Minister, was doused with haldi (turmeric powder) on Friday while meeting with community people seeking reservations. The now-viral clip depicts two men from the Dhangar community standing on each side of the minister as he reads a letter they had given him. One of the men suddenly brought out turmeric powder from his pocket and sprinkled it over the minister's head. The man began to rant in Marathi about the reservation problem, at which point Patil's assistants seized him, pushed him to the ground, kicked and pummeled him. The incident took place in a government rest house in the district of Solapur.
