Gutka and Pan Masala Banned: Telangana Implements Ban on Products Containing Tobacco and Nicotine for One Year

A notification issued by the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, on Sunday, May 26, announced a ban on the manufacture, storage, distribution, transportation, and sale of Gutka and Pan masala containing tobacco and nicotine. This prohibition, effective from Friday, May 24, is set to last for a period of one year.  The department cited public health concerns as the rationale behind the ban, invoking powers conferred by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and relevant regulations.
