The SUV, a Mahindra 3XO with a BJP sticker, was driven by Kuldeep Thakur, who was arrested but later released on bail. Eyewitnesses, including the victim's friend Pradyuman, reported that the SUV was speeding in a fast lane on the wrong side when the crash occurred. The incident underscores the severe consequences of reckless driving and the urgent need for improved road safety measures. After the incident, Gurugram police said that an FIR was registered under relevant sections of BNS, and the accused was arrested. They also said that they issued over 16,000 challans for wrong-side driving in August 2024.
