A man and his nephew died in the Aaji Dam while executing the traditional immersion of Lord Ganesha's idol, according to a heartbreaking report from Gujarat. The incident occurred in Rajkot at a gathering of the Maninagar Society, located on Kotharia Road in the city. Society residents had assembled near the Aaji Dam for the Ganesh Absuran ceremony. Three people went into the river to dissolve Lord Ganesha's statue. Tragedy occurred when two of them were washed away by the powerful currents. The local fire department responded quickly after learning of the occurrence. A committed crew undertook an extended search and recovered the dead remains of both victims.
