Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the African Union (AU) has been given permanent membership in the Group of 20 largest economies (G20) in the world during the opening session of the two-day G20 Summit. "Honoured to welcome the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 Family. This will strengthen the G20 and also strengthen the voice of the Global South", PM Modi wrote in a recent tweet.
