The Haryana Department of Agriculture has mandated the filing of FIRs against farmers engaged in stubble burning, effective from September 15, 2024. As per a circular issued on October 17, 2024, all Deputy Commissioners and District Nodal Officers are instructed to take legal action under environmental laws. Additionally, farmers found guilty will receive a “Red Entry” in their farm records, barring them from selling crops through the e-Kharid portal for two seasons. This initiative, in line with the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), aims to curb the environmental impact of crop residue burning and promote sustainable farming. ‘Delhi Has Become Gas Chamber’: Shehzad Poonawalla Wears Gas Mask While Protesting Against AAP Government Over Delhi Air Pollution (Watch Video).
