In a prompt move, the Election Commission of India (ECI) responded to complaints lodged by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) concerning the West Bengal by-polls. Acting within just 20 hours of receiving the representations, the ECI rejected allegations from the AITC that there had been any delay or inaction on their part. In its official response, the Election Commission clarified that immediate action had been taken following both of AITC's complaints. On November 10, within 20 hours of receiving the AITC’s concerns, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal convened a meeting of the State Level Force Deployment Committee. Following this, the Commission issued a directive ensuring that state police personnel will always be part of teams led by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) for election duties. Additionally, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Sukanta Majumdar, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), seeking his response to allegations regarding his remarks on the national emblem and the West Bengal police. The notice requires Majumdar to respond by 8 p.m. on the same day.
