The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Bengaluru recently ordered a match-making website, "Dilmil Matrimony", to pay a total of INR 60,000 to a man for failing to find his son a suitable bride. President Ramachandra MS and members Nandini H Kumbhar and Savitha Airani of the Consumer Court, in their ruling, said that the matrimonial site was deficient in providing services it had advertised and promised to the complainant. The complainant, Vijaya Kumar, approached the office of Dilmil Matrimony on March 17 and paid INR 30,000 after he was given an assurance that they would find a suitable match for his son within 45 days. However, despite Kumar following up and making multiple visits to Dilmil Matrimony's office, the matrimonial website failed to provide even a single match. When Kumar tried to resolve the issue by contacting Dilmil Matrimony, they failed to assist him and even allegedly used inappropriate language when he asked for a refund.
