One student has died, and several others are feared trapped after a coaching institute's basement flooded in Delhi's Old Rajender Nagar on Saturday, July 27. A search and rescue operation is underway. Delhi Police said that NDRF teams are at the spot, but poor visibility and a flooded basement make it difficult for divers and rescuers. Reacting to the incident, Delhi Education Minister Atishi said that the mishap happened due to heavy rain in Delhi in the evening. Atishi also ordered a magisterial-level inquiry into the matter. "There is news of water filling in the basement of a coaching institute in Rajendra Nagar. Delhi Fire Department and NDRF are on the spot. Delhi Mayor and local MLA are also there. I am taking updates of the incident every minute. A magistrate has been ordered to investigate how this incident happened. Whoever is responsible for this incident will not be spared," Atishi said in a post on X.
