The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has doubled parking charges in response to worsening pollution levels, following the implementation of Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The revised rates apply from October 22 across Lutyens’ Delhi, with plans to extend the increase citywide. Current surface parking rates are now INR 40 per hour for cars and INR 20 for two-wheelers, while multilevel parking rates are INR 20 and INR 10 for the first four hours, respectively. The move aims to encourage the use of public transport and curb vehicular pollution as Diwali approaches. The NDMC controls 96% of public parking spaces in Delhi.
