The scheduled election for Delhi's Mayor and Deputy Mayor has been postponed. The MCD issued a statement today, April 25, and said that the Delhi Mayoral polls have been postponed. "Since nomination of the Presiding Officer is mandatory as per Section 77(a) of the DMC Act, 1957 (as amended 2022). Therefore, it may not be possible to conduct elections of Mayor and Deputy Mayor as per schedule," the notice by the MCD Secretary read. It must be noted that the Delhi mayoral polls were slated to be conducted in the first House meeting of the corporation on April 26. However, the MCD mayoral polls are now postponed.
