Arvind Kejriwal Promised INR 90 Lakh to AAP Candidates in Goa Assembly Elections, Alleges CBI; Seeks Extension of Delhi CM's Judicial Custody
In the Delhi excise policy case, the CBI alleges Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised INR 90 lakh to each candidate. The investigation also links funds for the Goa election, managed by Durgesh Pathak, to the South Group.
In the ongoing Delhi excise policy case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 27 alleged that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised to provide INR 90 lakh to each candidate across 40 constituencies. The CBI's supplementary charge sheet, currently under review by the Rouse Avenue Court, highlights these allegations along with claims that Durgesh Pathak, an MLA from Delhi and in charge of the Goa election, oversaw the expenditure for the Goa election campaign. According to the CBI, the funds used in the Goa election were spent under Pathak's directives and are linked to money sourced from the South Group. The CBI has requested a 14-day extension of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody and reported that another accused, Vinod Chauhan, was in contact with K Kavitha's PA. Appearing via video conference, Kejriwal noted his health issues and requested permission for lunch. The court granted the extension, keeping Kejriwal in custody until September 3.
