An 8-year-old boy fell into a manhole covered by cardboard outside South Delhi Public School in Defence Colony on Friday morning. The incident occurred around 8am as the boy was being dropped off by his father. Stepping out of the car, the child unknowingly placed his foot on the cardboard, plunging into the sewer. Bystanders and the boy's parents quickly rescued him and rushed him to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he received first aid and further treatment. The child remained under observation until his discharge at 8pm. The boy’s father, a bank employee, noted that the original manhole cover had been set aside, with a cardboard sheet placed over the opening instead.
