Surendra Maithani, BJP MLA from Kanpur’s Govindnagar, has come under fire after a video of him threatening an officer over a planned demolition and eviction drive went viral on social media. The officer's team had allegedly posted notices in Vivekanand Nagar, instructing residents to vacate their homes. In the video, Maithani challenges the officer to "send a bulldozer" if he has the courage and claims that all eviction notices were torn down on his orders. "PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath are giving houses to people, and you are trying to bring them down. How dare you?" Maithani is heard saying. He further warns the officer, "I will ensure the bulldozer ends up in the canal.
