Orissa High Court's judgement coincided with Raksha Bandhan 2023. The single-judge bench comprising Justice Kumar Sahoo said, "It is an unfortunate case where a brother has committed sexual assault repeatedly on his own sister, making her pregnant at the age of 14 years". "A brother is a protector, a confidant and a life-long friend. Brothers and sisters share a unique bond that nothing can replace. Sister is a treasure beyond measure. A brother is a hero in disguise, a protector and a role model, " the high court said in its judgement.
