A small bridge collapsed in Siwan district on Saturday, marking the second such incident in Bihar within a week. The bridge, spanning a canal and connecting Daraunda and Maharajganj blocks, caved in around 5 am, according to District Magistrate Mukul Kumar Gupta. "Nobody was injured in the incident. It was a very old structure, and the pillars apparently caved in when water was released through the canal. We are working to minimize inconvenience for the affected villages until the bridge is restored," Gupta said. Earlier, on Tuesday, a newly constructed 180-meter bridge collapsed in Araria district, prompting the Rural Works Department to take action against responsible officials.
