In a harrowing incident, three women faced verbal abuse and threats from a Namma Yatri auto driver in Bengaluru. The incident, shared on Twitter by user Vanshita (@yourswriterly), occurred as the women were returning home late at night. According to Vanshita, the driver became aggressive when they called for security, demanding her phone and shouting loudly. Despite paying the fare and requesting him to leave, the driver continued to hurl abuses and threats. The women used the app's SOS feature and contacted the police, but received little immediate help. The driver, whose vehicle number is KA02AK0967, left only after Vanshita provided their address to the police. The incident has left the women feeling unsafe. After the woman shared her ordeal on X the Bengaluru police responded to her and asked her to lodge a complaint against the accused auto driver. Women Harassed by Auto Driver in Bangalore
had the most unsafe & scary auto ride of my life @nammayatri
your driver threatened us, called us ‘chutiya’ and ‘madarchod’ & started coming close to us almost as if he would hit us
SOS is of hardly any use, they listened to our plea & just disconnected the call

then he started arguing about meter price saying the app fare is too low
we said that doesn’t matter because we booked through @nammayatri app and hence will pay what the app is showing
he started shouting and creating a scene while we kept our points politely

We quickly paid him the amount shown on the app and told him to back off
he kept shouting still and then when I finally gave the address on the phone to the executive and said ‘please come fast, he is being almost violent now’
he got scared and went back to his vehicle

this is the auto number-
KA02AK0967
requesting everyone to not accept rides if this gets booked on your app and also to be careful of such drivers and men in general@nammayatri @BlrCityPolice
this is clearly not done. we have never felt more unsafe in our entire lives.

we could not record him because we were very scared that he would do something as a reaction
however while he was hurling the bad words at us, I did manage to take a 2-sec clip that shows his face
I want this man to face the consequences of what he did to us today pic.twitter.com/O2SBTHXwpo
