Five people, including four children, sustained burn injuries after a ‘helium’ balloon allegedly came in contact with an electric wire and burst into flames during a birthday party in Bengaluru Saturday night. According to the police, the incident took place at Vijay Kumar’s residence in Belathur, KR Puram at 9.30 pm when the kids had assembled at Vijay’s house to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. The police said that while Vijay’s daughter went to drink milk, the other children were playing with a balloon which burst upon touching an electric wire and led to the eruption of flames, injuring all five people in the living room. Neighbours rushed them to a nearby hospital and they were later shifted to Victoria Hospital.
