Bareilly Shocker: Miscreants Attack Cops With Sticks and Stones, Tear Their Uniforms After Being Asked to Stop Gambling on Diwali; Probe Ordered After Viral Video Surfaces

A police team in Bareilly was attacked by a mob after instructing a group to stop gambling on Diwali. The attackers injured two officers, tore their uniforms, and fled. A case was filed, and a search is underway.

In Bareilly’s Premnagar area, a police team was attacked on Diwali night after asking a group to stop gambling. Sub-Inspector Shubham Kumar and his team were patrolling near Banke ki Chhawani when they encountered a crowd of 30-40 people engaged in gambling activities. When the officers instructed them to disperse, the group became agitated, leading to a violent attack. Individuals, including Ashok, Dheeraj, Vijay, Kapil, and others—along with 20-25 unidentified people—began assaulting the officers with sticks and stones, tearing their uniforms. Sub-Inspector Shubham and Constable Manish sustained injuries and were later hospitalised. A case was filed against 15 identified and 25 unidentified suspects, and authorities have ordered a probe after the incident was captured in a viral video.
