Tensions escalated in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district after the death of Guruchand Mandal, a health worker under police custody, whose body was found hanging in a police station restroom. Mandal, a Class IV National Health Mission employee, was brought in for questioning with his father regarding the disappearance of his wife, Reena Mandal, missing since September 29. Following news of his death, an outraged crowd stormed the police station, pelting stones and vandalising property. Police used tear gas to disperse the mob. Protests persisted the following day, with crowds attempting to enter the district hospital during Mandal’s post-mortem. Amid the chaos, women in the mob assaulted Additional Superintendent of Police Nimisha Pandey, who fell while attempting to escape. The mob thrashed the IPS officer with slippers. Authorities from surrounding districts, including Surguja Range Inspector General Ankit Garg, were deployed to manage the unrest. Mandal’s body was transferred to Santoshinagar for cremation after a judicially overseen post-mortem. Noida: 2 Women Slap and Assault Elderly Couple After Scuffle Breaks Out Over Walking Dog in Uttar Pradesh's Hyde Park Society, Video Goes Viral.
