Particpating in the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President for her address to a joint sitting of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi said: "Aap Hindu ho hi nahi. (You are not even Hindu)" "This country believes in non-violence. While Shiv ji tells not to fear and talks about non-violence, those who call themselves Hindus are indulging in violence 24/7," the Congress leader said. "It is clearly stated in Hindu religion that we must stand with the truth... Non-violence is our symbol," he added.
