UNESCO on Wednesday added Kolkata's iconic Durga Puja to its 'Representative list of intangible cultural heritage.' While sharing the news, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "a matter of great pride and joy for every Indian! Durga Puja highlights the best of our traditions and ethos. And, Kolkata’s Durga Puja is an experience everyone must have." (Sic)
Durga Puja is celebrated every year in September or October. The 10-days festival celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasur, a demon.
