As part of India’s 78th Independence Day celebrations, the government has launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, encouraging citizens to display or hoist the national flag at their homes. To ensure the tricolour is treated with the respect it deserves, the Ministry of Culture has provided guidelines on properly folding and storing the flag. According to the Flag Code of India 2002, which was amended in recent years, the flag can now be made from polyester and displayed day and night. To fold the flag, it must be laid horizontally, with the saffron and green bands folded under the white band. The white band should then be folded so only the Ashoka Chakra is visible. The folded flag should be carried in arms or palms and stored safely, reflecting the national pride it embodies.
