In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections in five states in 2023, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has announced plans to establish a total of 1.77 lakh polling stations across 679 assembly constituencies. The elections will feature 17,734 Model polling stations aimed at enhancing the voting experience. Moreover, to ensure inclusivity, 621 polling stations will be managed by staff with disabilities (PwD), emphasising accessibility and participation. Additionally, 8,192 polling stations will be commanded by women, further promoting gender equality and empowering women in the electoral process.
