Malayalam superstar Mammootty has finally shared his views on the recent report published by the Hema Committee which brought out several shady incidents of sexual harassment by prominent individuals in the film industry.
Mammootty has finally reacted to the events following the Hema Committee report. Taking to his Facebook page, the Malayalam superstar revealed why he waited so long to share his thoughts about the report's findings. He also stated that there is no such 'power centre' in the cinema. Extending his support to the Hema Committee report, he said, "Filmmakers must be vigilant and cautious to ensure that nothing undesirable happens in this field. Following some incidents that should never have occurred, the government formed the Justice Hema Committee to study the film industry, prepare a report, suggest solutions, and recommend actions. The recommendations and solutions mentioned in that report are wholeheartedly welcomed and supported. It is time for all associations in the film industry to stand united without any divisions to implement them." He also urged the police to thoroughly investigate the issues and let the judiciary decide the punishments accordingly. He concluded by saying, "There is no 'power centre' in cinema. It is requested that the practical recommendations in the Justice Hema Committee report be implemented and, if there are legal obstacles, necessary legislation be enacted. Ultimately, cinema must survive." Mohanlal Addresses Hema Committee Report, #MeToo Allegations in Mollywood and His AMMA Resignation; Superstar Tells Media ‘Don’t Destroy Industry’ (Watch Video).
