The song “Sthuthi” from the upcoming film Bougainvillea has faced backlash from the Syro Malabar Church for allegedly misrepresenting Christianity. The Church criticised the lyrics, particularly the line “Bhoolokam srishticha Karthavinu sthuthi”, claiming that the lyrics and visuals featuring Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi mock Christian values. According to reports, Tony Chittilapilli, Secretary of the Syro Malabar Church Almaya, expressed strong disapproval and confirmed that the Church has lodged official complaints with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Censor Board. If the concerns are not addressed, they may consider legal action against the filmmakers. The song “Sthuthi” has been composed by Sushin Shyam, who also sings alongside Mary Ann Alexander. Directed by Amal Neerad, this Malayalam film is slated to release in theatres on October 17. ‘Bougainvillea’ Song ‘Sthuthi’: Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi Show Why They Are Two of Malayalam Cinema’s Best Dancers in This Sushin Shyam Banger (Watch Video).
