BTS ‘Sajaegi’ Allegations: Korean Ministry of Culture Begins Investigation Into Chart Manipulation, To Retrieve Data From Music Providers
Following the recent chart-rigging allegations and civil complaints against BTS, the Korean boy band will now reportedly undergo an investigation by KOCCA.
K-pop supergroup BTS has been been embroiled in a chart-rigging (sajaegi) controversy for some time now. Recent reports also suggested that the popular Korean boy band would face an investigation based on civil complaints regarding their sajaegi activities in 2017. The ongoing legal dispute at BTS' HYBE has deteriorated as the Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) has now initiated a probe into the allegations. The latest reports on May 21 indicated that KOCCA, under the Korean Ministry of Culture, had acknowledged receiving complaints against BTS for chart manipulation. The reports also said that KOCCA may seek data from music service providers, which will undergo a review before being submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
