A Delhi-based developer has bought the JioHotstar domain ahead of the recently announced merger of JioCinema with Disney+Hotstar. The domain name currently takes users to a website which consists of a letter addressed to the "Executives of Reliance Industries". Reliance owns Jio and will have a controlling stake in Disney+ Hotstar. The techie, who called himself a "dreamer", requested the company to fund his higher education in exchange for ownership of the domain. He revealed that he worked on a project which was selected for Cambridge University Accelerate Program. Calling the experience "transformational", the techie said that he couldn't crack the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) exams and wished to continue learning from the best. An update mentioned that Ambujesh Yadav, AVP, Commercials, a Reliance executive, reached out to him but refused to make the £93,345 (INR 1 crore) deal for his entrepreneurship programme. The techie has claimed that Reliance has threatened legal action and also mentioned that he doesn't have the power to stand against the company and may take legal action against him.
