A fifth Shrek movie is officially in the works! The upcoming instalment of the animated franchise will see Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz reprise their roles. DreamWorks finally announced the much-awaited return of the franchise along with a release date. Taking to their X (previously Twitter), DreamWorks Animation announced that Shrek 5 will arrive in the theatres on July 1, 2026. Sharing a teaser with the Shrek 5 logo, they wrote, "Not too Far, Far Away… @Shrek 5 is coming to theaters on July 1, 2026 with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz."
