Shelley Duvall, the actress known for her role as Jack Nicholson’s wife in The Shining, has died at the age of 75. Duvall portrayed Wendy Torrance, spouse of Nicholson’s axe-wielding maniac in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. She also appeared in seven films directed by Robert Altman. Duvall appeared in several of his films, including McCabe & Mrs Miller (1971), Thieves Like Us (1974), and Nashville (1975), which was seen as her big break. The news of her passing was shared by Dan Gilroy, her partner since 1989, who informed The Hollywood Reporter that she died peacefully in her sleep due to complications from diabetes.
