At the Venice Film Festival, Daniel Craig and Luca Guadagnino, director of Craig's latest film Queer, were asked about the possibility of a gay James Bond. During a press conference on September 3, a reporter posed the question, which prompted Craig to roll his eyes. "Let’s be adults here for a moment," Guadagnino interjected to answer the reporter. "The reality is that no one would ever truly know James Bond’s desires, period," he added. Craig, who played James Bond in five films from 2006 to 2021, stars in Queer as a man who forms a romantic connection with a younger partner (played by Drew Starkey) while living in Mexico City in 1950. ‘Queer’ Movie Review: Daniel Craig’s Bold Performance in Luca Guadagnino’s Adaptation of William S Burroughs’ Novel Impresses Critics.
