Douglas Trumbull Dies at 79; Visual Effects Pioneer Was Known for His Work on 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Star Trek and More
His daughter Amy took to Facebook to confirm the news of his demise. She revealed that he had cancer, a brain tumor and a stroke. She wrote, "My sister Andromeda and I got to see him on Saturday and tell him that he love him and we got to tell him to enjoy and embrace his journey into the Great Beyond."
Douglas Trumbull, the legendary pioneer of Visual effects breathed his last earlier on February 7. He was 79. He was known for his special effects work on movies which includes 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner and The Tree of Life. He also helmed movies like Silent Running and Brainstorm.
