Robert Downey Jr was originally set to make a cameo as Tony Stark in Deadpool & Wolverine. Co-writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had written a scene featuring Stark alongside Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan. Ryan Reynolds even rehearsed the scene with both actors, hoping to recreate the iconic duo's chemistry. However, the cameo was ultimately cut when Downey was cast as Doctor Doom, a role that clashed with his potential appearance as Stark. Wernick revealed they didn’t know about Downey’s involvement as Doctor Doom during the writing process. "There’s no way he was going to do both," Wernick noted, adding that Reynolds gave Downey a hard push to join the project. Despite reading the scenes, Downey’s commitment to his new role meant the cameo couldn’t be realised. Even Reynolds’ relentless charm wasn’t enough to make it happen this time. Though fans may be disappointed, the decision was made to preserve the film's integrity and avoid any conflicting character appearances. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Box Office Collection: Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman’s MCU Film Crosses INR 100 Crore Mark in India!.
