Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Big Update on Rhea Chakraborty, As SC Dismisses CBI’s ‘Frivolous’ Plea To Restore Look-Out Circulars Against Actress and Her Family
The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition from the CBI aimed at reinstating look-out circulars against Rhea Chakraborty and her family in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan labelled the CBI's request as frivolous.
In a notable development, the Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the State of Maharashtra, and the Bureau of Immigration. This petition sought to challenge the Bombay High Court's decision to quash look-out circulars (LOCs) issued against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and their father, Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty, in relation to the Sushant Singh Rajput death case from 2020. Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan described the petition as “frivolous,” implying it was motivated more by the high-profile status of the accused than by substantial legal concerns. According to Live Law, Justice Gavai remarked, "We are warning you... You are filing such a frivolous petition only because one of the accused is a high-profile person... It will be dismissed with exemplary cost. Both persons have deep roots in society." He further stated, "If you want cost and some compliments to the CBI, we will pass over." This development stems from an FIR filed by Rajput's family in Patna, calling for an investigation into his death. The case was then referred to the CBI for further examination. ‘Every Single Day Was About Surviving’: Rhea Chakraborty Reflects on Her Harrowing Jail Experience After Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death (Watch Video).
