Amid the rumored ongoing financial crisis of one of Bollywood's biggest production houses, Dharma Productions, business tycoon Adar Poonawalla is set to invest a substantial amount to acquire a 50 percent stake in the company.
Adar Poonawall, the Chief Executive Officer of Serum Institute of India, is set to acquire 50 percent stake in Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar's companies Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. According to the latest reports, Adar Poonawalla is making the deal through his company Serene Productions, which will give him a 50 percent stake in Dharma. Karan Johar will retain the remaining 50 percent ownership. Johar will also continue to lead the operations as Dharma's Executive Chairman. A statement on behalf of the companies read: "Karan Johar, as the Executive Chairman, will spearhead the company's creative vision, while Apoorva Mehta, in his role as the Chief Executive Officer, will work with Karan in steering the strategic direction and overseeing the operational excellence of the organisation." The latest film release of Dharma was the Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina starrer Jigra, which hit the big screens on October 11, 2024. Dharma Productions was started by Karan Johar's father Yash Johar in 1976 and is behind some of the iconic films of Bollywood.
