During a public meeting, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Mandi said, "Hamare purvajo ne Mughlo ki gulaami dekhi uske baad Angrezo ki gulaami dekhi aur fir Congress ka shasan dekha. Lekin 2014 me hame sahi mayane me azadi mili hai, swatantrata mili hai." Targeting Congress, she asked why India was not declared a Hindu nation at the time of independence.
