Jackie Shroff has taken legal action by filing a lawsuit with the Delhi High Court to safeguard his personality and publicity rights, particularly addressing the unauthorised usage of his popular moniker ‘Bhidu’. Represented by Advocate Pravin Anand, the Bollywood actor argues that his personality and publicity right are being violated through the unauthorised use of his name, image, voice, and personal characteristics for commercial purposes. The advocate pointed out to the court that one of the defendants is operating a restaurant under the name “Bhidu”, which is the 67-year-old’s registered trademark. Additionally, defendants are using Jackie’s images on merchandise like T-shirts and posters without permission. Anand also highlighted the use of the actor’s images and voice in memes and videos, which he claims are ‘defamatory’.
