The 70th National Film Awards is currently taking place at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. At the prestigious ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu honoured outstanding filmmakers, actors and music directors across the country for their contributions to Indian cinema. Kannada star Rishab Shetty won the Best Actor Award for his extraordinary performance in Kantara, while the Best Actress title was shared by Nithya Menen for Thiruchitrambalam and Manasi Parekh for Kutch Express. Music Maestro AR Rahman received the award for Best Music Direction (Background Music) for Ponniyin Selvan Part 1. KGF Chapter 2 won the award for Best Kannada Film. Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 won the award for Best Tamil Film.
