According to multiple reports, Reliance Jio reportedly lost 10.9 million subscribers in the second quarter due to an increase in the price of its recharge plans. However, the company still boasted a strong performance and gained a higher customer base, from 130 million to 147 million users. The ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) also increased from INR 181.7 to INR 195.1. Reliance JIo also reported a net profit of INR 6,536 crore despite dropping subscribers. Reliance recently announced a merger of JioCinema with Disney+ Hotstar, combining the businesses to form a new entity that would likely be called "JioHotstar". The USD 8.5 billion merger would reportedly end the JioCinema.
